I thought that file was more impotant than that, but anyway, these scams are best ignored. It is a sort of virus by the back door |

This has been around since May 2002... If you have deleted the file jdbgmgr.exe then you needn't worry unless you are a java developer |

I have not been on for 2 days so apologies if this has done the rounds. Apparently according to some mailing lists I am on there is a hoax going round but if you act on it, it will cause devastation DO NOT ACT AT ALL ON THE FOLLOWING, THIS IS TO SHOW YOU WHAT THE MAIL LOOKS LIKE. Read all the message. Sorry if this is long. Unfortunately a virus has been passed on to me and my address book was infected. Since you are in my address book, there is a good chance that you will find the virus on your computer as well. The virus (called jdbgmgr.exe) is not detected by Norton or McAfee anti-virus systems. The virus sits quietly for 14 days before damaging the system. It is sent automatically by messenger and by the address book whether or not you have sent email to that address. Here is how to check for the virus and how to get rid of it. YOU MUST DO THIS!! 1. GO TO START, FIND OR SEARCH OPTION 2. IN THE FOLDER OPTION TYPE THE NAME jdbgmgr.exe 3. Be sure you search your C: drive and all sub folders and any other drives you may have. 4. Click find now 5. The virus has a teddy bear icon with the name jdbgmgr.exe DO NOT OPEN IT 6. Go to Edit (on the menu bar) and choose "select all" to highlight the file without opening it 7. Now go to file (on the menu bar) and select delete. It will then go to the recycle bin. 8. If you find the virus you must contact all the people in your address book so they can eradicate it in the own address books. 9. To do this: open a new email message click on the icon of the address book next to the to line highlight every name and add to BCC (which means blind copy) Copy this message and pass it on in email DO NOT ACT ON IT. THIS IS A HOAX - DO NOTHING !!! If you have already searched for the file, you would have found it in the Windows System Directory - BECAUSE IT IS A PART OF THE WINDOWS OPERATING SYSTEM. Hopefully, none of you would EVER delete a file from the Windows Directory without checking first with an authority such as Microsoft, Norton or McAfee. However, take heart. If you did delete this file, you will probably not miss it unless you happen to be a Microsoft Visual J++ 1.1 developer. In which case, you would probably know NOT to delete it.
