You can go onto 1837 online and this will enable you to find out the volume and page number of the marriage record. There is a fee but it is particularly easy if you already have the date. There is then a link on the site for you to buy certificates online. I have done it several times and always had a prompt and speedy service. Alison

hi tracy, best site for scottish research is scotlands people it will cost you £6 for 30 credits well worth the money you can print of actual copy of the marriage cert you are looking for if you can find it , go to the resources page at the left and you will see it there for the web address , cheers jackie .

Alison, thanks anyway, but I think your'll find it only covers England and Wales. Jacqueline, I think I'll pay the £6 it's worth a try. I have the marriage date, if I find it and print it off will it give me all the info the same as it would if I sent off for it? I'm new to all this, sorry. Tracy.

hi tracy, it will give you the exact same as you would get if you sent it away, i think its actually cheaper doing it this way and quicker it is one of the best sites i have came across my search is mostly scottish and i have used it lots of times although the £6 gives you 30 credits it only costs 6 credits to print off the certificate . good luck jackie.
