Hi Ann L. Thanks for your message. I am probably going back to Kew at some point, in the not too distant future. I'm becoming a full member soon so will send you an e-mail when Ican get to Kew and will offer you a look up. I trained 30 years ago, have a nice job working in Outpatients. regards Sue.

Hi Ann Lazenby Thanks for your info. please see above reply to Sylvie. I am really encouraged by the response to this query. In the registration books you get registration number, date of registration, the hospital and dates of training. Going back 50 years it was all written in lovely copperplate writing. I am hopeful that I may find what I'm looking for including a photo. Where did you train? I did my training at St. Mary's, London. best wishes, Sue

Hi Sylvie, Thanks for your suggestion. I have only just found the registration at Kew after searching through seven huge leather and brass bound books- eight hundred pages with six entries to a page. Thanks Sue.

Sylvia Most training hospitals like mine where I trained have a Trained Nurses league too, if you don't ask you don't get so keep us informed I would like to know how you get on. Ann, Darlington

Hi Sue If it is any help I know that the hospital I trained in kept records which included a photograph and a week by week account of everything I did for the 3+ years I was in training. Why don't you write directly to the hospital senior nurse management ot the School of Nursing if the latter still exists. Depending on the hospital - it may even have and 'old girls' society with a yearly book in which you could ask for information? They may even have a collection of these going back many, many years. Just some thoughts Sylvie

Hi Ann, Thanks for that info. I have the name of the hospital, which has since merged with another to become a trust. My friend suggested the Hospital library, which may shed some light on where the records would have been sent. Any other suggestions welcome though. Sue. P.S. I must become a member of this site soon, too many other things like work, life, etc getting in the way!!!

Since nobody else has answered yet, I'll have a go. If it was England you could have a go at trying the following as your first step .. Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) In April 2002, the UKCC and National Boards were replaced by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as the body by which trained nurses and student nurses are bound and protected. Address details: NMC 23 Portland Place London W1B 1PZ Main switchboard: 020 7637 7181 Main fax: 020 7436 2924 there is an email link that I'll send you direct If elswhere then email me and I'll send you some other links I have from working in a School of Nursing Ann
