There is A Directory of Free Census Records Find it by clicking resource centre then links at the bottom of the page.

There are odd bits from most Census that have been transcribed and put on the net by people. The best thing to do is to key what you want into your search engine and see what results come up eg. 1861 Census Bridlington. You might be lucky. Sometimes the area you want may be available to download for just £2 or £3 and this can be worth it, I have the 1851 for Dawley in Shropshire. Your search engine should bring these results up too.
