Just to clarify when i said it didnt look naval in the same message as RAF, i meant out of all the forces it was in my opinion least likely to be naval! And i suspected it was infact RAF or army! lol sorry maybe that wasnt clear! Thanks to all for help! Sam |

Hiya all, Im in the RAF Myself and they have always had squadrons..theyve also been in egypt at various times. The only problem being that i take L.CPL to be lance corporal and the raf doesnt have this in the rank structure..only the army as far as i know. Hope this helps in some way.. demelza |

RAF = Royal Air Force, so shouldn't look naval.!! lol There is a site for looking up service folk who died in the war, that is another possibility. Sorry can't remember the address at present but think it's a government sponsored site |

To be honest i hadnt considered the RAF.... That is another possibilty! Im really not that clued up on uniforms! But doesnt look naval to me!? |

I always thought that Squadrons 'belonged' to the RAF not the Army. A friend of a friend was a Squadron Leader and that was the RAF. Could be wrong but just a thought..... Kay |

Papazian Cairo - this is a place in Eygpt, so i guess that is where the photo was taken. |

I surgest that first of all you try to identify the uniform that they are wearing is it Army, Naval ect. then it will be easier to identify the squadron. i have been searching for you and with this info it will make the search much easier, so have you got any idea ?? |

Ive just been looking through some old photo's... Several of which are men in the forces... One in particular had the following hand written on the back of it: 7371718 L.Cpl Metcalf J/F (Not sure which letter it is) B. Squadron L.R.D.G C.M.F. The photo has what appears to say "Kh.Papazian Cairo" embossed in the bottom corner. Is the number the mans army number? And is there any way in which to get futher clues from this photo??? Sam |
