Where would i look to find a birth certificate, or bmd type reference for a 'Bs' (british subject) birth in Chile, So America in 1897? The parents of the child i am interested in lived in London before his birth and were back again by 1900 -if not before- so i am not sure where to look after a fruitless search through the GRO records. Any ideas welcome. Thankyou Yvette |

I don't know when they started doing it but you might try Kew.My youngest son was born in Germany and his birth isn't on 1837, when I asked at the LDS they told me British subjects born abroad are listed separately.Kew seems to be the place where everything is kept, but be warned the place is a nightmare unless you get there at dawn!! |

Thanks for that Linda. Unfortunately i dont think i will be able to make it to Kew for a good many months yet.The good news maybe is that it gives me plenty of time to find all the other questions that i will need answers to before i go! Yvette |
