I am trying to find out anything I can about my grandmother, I never knew her, she died when my mother was a child. I know her name was Josephine Williams (nee Stewart). She was born sometime between 1902-1907, she married my grandfather, Arthur Williams sometime between 1925-1928, at West Derby, Liverpool. I,m told she died between 1937-1942, she was around 37yrs old? when she died. Iwas also told it's possible that she is buried in Kirkdale cemetry, Liverpool. I've asked all relatives for any information, but all they could give me was the above. I would dearly love to know were she's buried, so I can now put my mother's ash's on her grave. I would be everso grateful for any information, no matter how little. Regards, Bernie.

Hi Bernard, I recently found out who my great grandparents were, i never knew them bt found it on my grandads birth certificate. Then I also found that they were buried somewhere in a cemetry which was in Lincoln near where I live. So my mum and dad a while ago tried to find where they were buried but found that they didn't have a grave stone. So I looked on the City Council Website for Lincoln. Found out who looked after the cemetries and gave him a phone call. It got me through to the crematorium who looked after the graveyards. The information I had was his name and his wifes name, a rough idea of when he died, so he had a look in the book to see if he could find anything. He found where they were buried, the plot number and the grave site. He told me the exact dates when they were both buried and in the plot and how old they were when they died. Also the address of where they lived when they bought the plot. So contact your local council who mans that graveyard and ask for community services. Go from there to see if they can help. Bernie, you don't say where you live. If you live in Liverpool or locally you can go to the central library (next to the museum). The family records office is on the fourth floor. If you go to the reception they willpoint you in the direciton of the films that you can search through to see if you can find your grandmother. I know because I went on Monday to try and find the burial place of my greatgrandad. You can also phone and they will undertake a search for you but its not cheap. However the first thing you need is a death certificate to pinpoint when she died. Liverpool have the full St Catherine house records and you can search through them, or do it online on the 1837 site, but again that costs. Barbara

Bernie your grandparents were married in 1927 and if you want to get a copy of their marriage certificate to get their fathers' names, go to www.lancashirebmd.org.uk ...click on 'marriages' then click on 'Liverpool' then 'surname search' When their record appears, if you click on the reference number to the right, it will take you to a partially complete application form to get the certificate. If you search the death indices for her death, just ring the Livepool Corporation and get to the Cemetaries Dept ...or even telephone Kirkdale Cemetary and quote the date or even month of death and I'm sure they will be able to give you the plot number.
