so i Take it that i would'nt be able to find out his natural father's name from any records then

Hi Darren, The father would not have to be named on the birth certificate. If he was not married to the mother he couldn't be named unless he was present at the registration. It could be that he was interviewed with the mother, when she was considering adoption. This information could be in the adoption file of the adopted person. Usually only the adopted person has access to this. sally

Thanks for the recommendation Margaret. Denise I have the birth and marriage fiche at home so if you know the details let me know and I will search for her birth. Yes, she would have to be registered at birth. Feel free to ring me up to 11pm. Sorry to say we cannot find adoptees only in the rare circumstance but with a name at least you can look if she is searching for her roots. 01454 615031 Joan

I have discovered I have a half-sister who was adopted at the age of 6 weeks, by a couple living in Chiswick, London. I have searched without success for her birth registration, does anyone know, would her birth have had to be registered in order for the adoption to go through? And any ideas as to how I might move forward with this, I seem to have come to a halt before I've even started!
