Does anybody know any good web sites or other sources etc for people who emmergrated to Australia in the 1950's/60's/70's? I am trying to trace or see if some of my relatives are still alive. They moved from the South Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire area to go to Canberra. I know that my great uncle is dead but i'm trying to track his wife. There names were George Hardy and Betty Hardy and they had 3 children called Ian, Keith and Karen. I know one of the boys did marry a local Australian and her father or one of the boys did get a job as an embassador, I've been told anyway. Any help would be greatly appreciated? Thanks Amie..... P.S. Anybody know any good websites?

Hiya - don't know of a site (I have a similar problem coming up with a member of my family who went to Australia in the early 1950's) but have you thought that members of the family might still be in the town/city concerned? I was amazed the other day when I went on Phonebookof the world site, indicated Canada and then put in the provice and name and up came the phone book entry - second one down was the same name (and amazingly the same house number and street). I then wrote to the people and have had an e-mail back saying they are descendents!!! My point is that it's worth a try if you know whereabouts in Australia they went to - they might not have strayed far! Good luck Jacqui
