Try enlarging the part with your scanner, and also compare other letters which you know is right. Joan

Go to the ancestry co uk site, then click for 1891 census. On the left there is a handwriting help.

Kaz I think the best way is often to ask someone else. I have had a lot of help from other researchers in local studies libraries, often because they have spent the last few years reading this type of handwriting. If you can get a pdf file to me I can take a look, if you would like. Best wishes Neil

Does anyone know of anything that is available to help me decipher handwriting on certificates.I have tried and tried and now my eyes are cock-eyed from looking lol any help or advice warmly welcomed kaz
