Help required to find Matilda (Tilly) 1881

Hi, I am really struggling with this one. I have the marriage cert for Charles Rooks aged 22 July 1884 to Tilly Brown (Matilda) aged 21 her father was Harry Brown labourer. Residence at the time of marriage Pocklington. I am unable to find either her or her father on the 1881 census, can anyone else please have a look. Also William H Brown was one of the witnesses which I presume was her brother. Thanks in advance all help appreciated. Liz |

Liz, The 1901 census says she was born around 1866. Perhaps she lied and said she was 21 when she married so she didn't need her parents consent. There's this for a Matilda Brown born in 1866 Henry LAWSON Head M Male 27 York, England Rope Maker Employing 3 Boys 1 Man Lousia LAWSON Wife M Female 23 York, England Rope Makers Wife J.H. Shouksmith LAWSON Son U Male 2 York, England Mary LAWSON Daur U Female 1 m York, England Matilda BROWN Serv U Female 15 York, England Domestic Servant Source Information: Dwelling 5 Micklegate Census Place York St John Micklegate, York, England Crista |

Hi, Charles father was also Charles also known as Lyth. Do you think this is the Matilda Brown then aged 15? Can you see where her father or brother maybe. Thanks. Does anyone have the earlier census than 1881 to check where they are? thanks again liz |

Do you know how old Tillys brother was in 1881? I have found a William H Brown b1855 Richmond ,York as a lodger,living in Hulme Lancashire |
