Thanks everybody for your Ideas and help isnt it amazing when you hit a brick wall you think you've come t dead end then all of a sudden things start falling into place, i spoke to her sister who has given me her number in the USA, by all accounts shes still there, so after 15 years of trying lets hope its the right person. I'll call her on monday apparently shes at a funeral this weekend, from what I can gather. Matt

What about trying the Salvation Army, they help finding people. Also, I believe the social security dept might be willing to pass on a letter - but this might have changed. You would need to check this. Liz

Have you looked on friendsreunited? Go to Kings College Hospital - it is registered twice, as I have just written and as Kings College Hospital London. Work through the wards and Departments looking for people who were there at the same time. If you are a member, contact them as they could still be in touch. A long shot I know and maybe somehting you have already tried. Jacky PS Just seen the messages about DjVu. I have had terrible trouble trying to download it and still haven't managed to. I would be interested in the manuall instruction please.

Matthew, If you can see this page, then the viewer is installed correctly http://www.1837online(.)com/Trace2web/SampleImageBirths1891Q2AND-ANG.html If not, try installing again. This might help: http://www.lizardtech(.)com/support/kbsearch/index.php?q=DjVu+Browser+Plug-in I think some others were having issues if their anti virus was running. I found the best time to view pages was early morning or late at night when the site wasn't being used too much. Crista

Matthew I had trouble getting DejaVu to download properly at home and finally got it sorted by using the manual download option instead of the auto-install. HTH

If she was born in 1942, she will have reached retirement age, and maybe enjoying a well earned rest.
