I have been trying to find for yonks now a Richard Chantler b 1862 in Kentish Town. I found him in 1881 aged 19 and I found his marriage cert (1883) stating his father as Peter MacGregor Chantler - pianoforte tuner, his father was not on the 1881 census. For some reason I cannot find Richards birth cert anywere - have looked under every nook and crannie. Has anyone access to the 1871 census for the area, or can give any suggestions - would be appreciated Many thanks Linda

Hello Linda I have this birth cert of Richard ChanDler, unfortunately not the Richard I am looking for although it did look at the time a close possibility - so it's a case of continue rummaging. Thanks anyway for your time Linda Happy Hunting Linda

Hi, He may have been illegitimate and registered under his mother's maiden name - Mc Gregor perhaps. That's what I would look for. Hope this helps, Gwynne

Hi Linda, I've found Richard Chantler age 29 pianoforte tuner on the 1891 census - place of birth St. Pancras. Do you already have these details or would you like me to forward the full info. Emma.
