Church records not deposited

Hello, can anyone advise me regarding the following? My great grandfather, Patrick Gallagher married Mary Wignall in St Francis of Assisi RC Church, Garston, West Derby, Liverpool in 1889. His ?cousin Martin Gallagher married there the same year. I checked at Liverpool Central Library and the records of this church have not been copied/deposited. I then checked with the records office in Lancashire (can't remember its official title, but it is where all the records end up for this area anyway) and they had not been deposited there. I wrote to the secretary at the church, as it is still in existence, to ask if it would be possible for me to look through the records, but she refused (nicely!). I am sure that this church holds the key to my many brick walls, but just can't get my hands on the records. Does anybody have any suggestions as to what I do next? Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks. Carol x

Hi Carol Doesn't sound very hopeful does it? You could try the Lancs FHS and see if anyone there has transcribed the Parish records or has access to them. They will probably do a look up for you if they have. Debbie

I would ring the priest direct, I rang the priest of the Roman Catholic Church my Great and Great Grandparents married, and He offered to open the chuch for me. Go to the top and if Gods not available, definatly try the priest !! Lynda
