My great grandfather, Jesse Evan Humphreys (1844 - 1899 ) was born in Tredegar but his birth does not seem to have been registered. From his marriage certificate 1870 I know his father Daniel was alive at the time. Please can anyone help me find his mothers name?

Do you know if Jesse had any brothers / sisters that were likely to still be with their parents in the 1881 census?

Thanks Jennifer - Yes we had the 1881 info, he's obviously living with his in -laws. We don't know if he had brothers or sisters.

Thank you Lesley. We'll phone the registry office tomorrow. If we have no joy we'll take up your offer. Thanks again.
