Now that I think about it, Archie could be a nickname for Arthur, making Arthur/Archie/Arelie one and the same. So confusing George

Thanks for trying George

I've just done a quick search for Arthur Oldfield, and the only ones who are not shown as Head or Son are: Arthur, Adopted son, 13, born Huddersfield, living Almondbury Yorks. Arthur, Private, 20, born Surrey, in Army Camp Arthur, Servant, 21, born Bulmer, Yorks, living London Arthur W K, Nephew, 10, born Ealing, London, living Dorset. Arthur G, Boarder, 18, born Norfolk, living Sussex. So unless he was like my grandfather who was shown as Charles in the 1881 and Alfred in the 1891, or his brother shown as Arthur in both but registered as Walter, I don't know where he can be. Jan.

I should think Archie and Arelie are one and the same, the transcriber just couldn't work out the writing. So that means that Arthur is the missing one. Don't worry about the discrepancy of a year in his age between 1891 and 1901, I've come up against much worse ones in my travels. Jan.

Basically here's why I'm asking 1891- Dickinson Oldfield,29,Mason Builder, b Hovingham Sarah,30 b Hovingham Archie, 7 b Hovingham Walter,5 b Hovingham 1901 Census Dickinson Oldfield, 39, Builder, b Hovingham Sarah,40 b Hovingham Arthur, 17yrs, Railway Clerk b York Arelie (boy)16yrs, Railway Clerk b Hovingham Walter, 15yrs, Mason Apprentice b Hovingham Florence,9 b Hovingham Evelyn,7 b Hovingham Laurence,5 b Hovingham so basically the three A's are confusing me George

The only male Oldfield I could find who was neither Head nor Son was James, Grandson, age 24. Living with grandfather of the same name, Widower, 71, Tailor, born Terrington. James Jnr. was Groom, Domestic Servant, born Hovingham. Jan.

He would have born in either Hovingham or York. George

Seeking a male child with surname Oldfield would be about 6/7yrs old and would not be with his parents. Thanks George
