Thanks Debra this is possibly them. I will have to do more research. Im still fairly new to all this. Its difficult with no spare money to spend on this,and two kids forever interupting. So thanks to all of you who give your time to help newbies like me, elaine x

Elaine I have found one Thomas Horton born in Tottenham on the 1881 census age is 3 years out but usualy this is about right George Horton Head age 43 born Caston, Cambridge Ag Lab Emily Horton Wife Age 46 born Penshurst, Kent Thomas Horton son Age 15 born Tottenham, Middlesex William Horton Son age 10 born Tottenham Middlesex Alfred Horton son age 10 born Tottenham, Middlesex Martha Horton Daur age 7 born Tottenham, Middlesex Samuel Horton Son age 5 born Tottenham, Middlesex Robert Horton Son age 2 born Tottenham, Middlesex Dwelling 3 Cornwall Road Tottenham, Middlesex

Hi Jan Thanx for looking for me. Mabels maiden name i dont know. they went on to have thomas c1897 Harry c 1900 dick emily or florence (aka sis) charles (my grandad )1908 & george. my cousins grandad was harry & my cousins father charles (harrys son) is the source of information. I know that ive got the right family on the 1901 as everything matches up. i may always wonder! by the way i think thomas sr. was about 12 in 1891. elainex

Sorry, I can't pinpoint the one you are looking for. Is there any possibility that he might have changed his name for some reason? It seems odd that you can't find him anywhere before 1901. Was Mabel born Horton, and he took her name perhaps? Jan.

I CANT FIND MY GT GRANDFATHER THOMAS HORTON & HIS WIFE MABEL ANYWHERE EXCEPT THE 1901 CENSUS. HE WAS BORN C1869 IN TOTTENHAM MIDDLESEX. HE'S NOT ON THE 1881 CENSUS & I DONT HAVE ACCESS TO THE 1891 CENSUS. i CANT FIND HIM ON FREEBMD his birth is a mystery. can anyone shed light on this? (sorry if i dont promptly reply, as i'm going out soon) elaine x
