Hello - i'm replying because no one else seems to want to! I'm no expert but I believe the Decoder deals with the 190 census and allows us to determine which members of the populus with the same surname actually lived in the same house - at least that's what I understand it to mean. You cannot buy a decoder, the decode can be downloaded free of charge and then used - if you look back through the tips board you will find wonderful instructions on how to download and use the device - I have just been on it, and it's wonderful - it allows you to determine whether you want to spend £5. 00 plus on looking at people who ultimately turn out to be nothing to do with you - or whether you want to spend your money on a "fair bet". I am not sure how it would benefit the Irish census as I'm not sure it covers that area - probably someone else will no - they are a knowledgeable crowd on Genesconnected - come on everyone, lets help this lady!! I have just starting reseaching my Irish ancestors and being a novide progress is really slow. I have read some of the coments regarding a decoder and wondered if anyone could give me advice on where to get a decoder and how it works. Thaks a lot for your help
