I was told to start with my birth certificate and then my parents marriage certificate and work back. I was also advised to follow one line at a time so as not to get confused. Don't believe everything you read and never assume. Always back up your finds with evidence. I have been doing this for a few months and it is very addictive, if a little frustrating when you end up with more questions every time you think you have found an answer. It's lots of fun though and this site has been really useful so stick with it. Mel |

Have just got interested in finding the background of my family and have no idea where to start! any advice gratefully received. I have living relatives but not easy to contact, know place of birth and growing up, so where now? |
