	If your family are local to you try the nearest main library they will hold some census from 1841 to 1891

I started with the 1881 census which is free on the Latter Day Saints site (www(.)familysearch(.)org) There are several census on their but click on the British census add surname and country and county if known and there you go. The 1901 census is also free to search, but you have to pay to go further than the individual's details shown i.e. their address, family etc. That site and the Mormon site are linked to this - look to the left bottom - you can then access whichever you want.
