vera, Yes ive tried bmd but there are a lot of people who could be his parents...its a common name in that area. Ive caved in and today sent off for the birth cert so hopefully thatll tally up with the details i know. Demelza |

Hi, If you have the persons name and rough date of birth, try ringing the appropriate Register Office. Most of them are very helpful. Maggy, West Yorkshire |

Hi, If you dont have an exact date, the PRO can do a 3 year search, but they charge 4.50 for it, providing you can give them enough details to search on (ie) name, place of birth, possible parents names...and of course the approximate year. Hope this helps, Best Wishes, Sarah |

I've looked into applying for a duplicate birth certificate from Dec 1905 but i don't have the exact date. This seems to be a required field; can anyone tell me how to get round this. thanks very much demelza |
