Thank you all very much. Unfortunately I don't live anywhere near Kent so I haven't got access to the parish records. I will try that site when I have some money lol!! If there is anyone in the Sutton Valence area who has some time to spare Iwould be grateful if you could help. I think the records may be kept at Maidstone now. Dauna

I have to agree with Debra, I tried to find my Walton's, but they had bulked all the WA together 400 + pages in all, for quite a few years, took me ages and quite a few pounds to locate them, the first few I tried was really hit & miss (mostly miss!). But I did find them in the end. If your lucky it doesn't cost much but iF your not, it can cost .....? But that's the price we pay for researching the dead! Kim

Best to try your local record office and have a lok at the indexes yourself. Ros

Sorry Beverley But I think that the 1837site is very expensive if you havnt got a exact date it has to be really near. I made the mistake of not having many dates and spent a fiver in about half an hour. Dont forget some of us have to watch the pennies. Debbie

Hi Duana, The only way, if you have checked all the free sites without gain, is by checking the Family Research Link (1837online)site. Unfortunatley you have to pay, but its not expensive. I would suggest you start at 1861 and work back each quarter, you'd be suprised at how many 'shotgun' weddings there were! I think you should be pretty successful as the surname Copin, I imagine, isn't too common. Good Luck

Where do I look to find out the date of a marriage? My gt gt grandfather, William Coppin, b.c1821 in Sutton Valence, Kent married a Martha, b.c1825. They appear on 1881 census with children, Sophia b.1861 and Charles b.1868. I need to find when William and Martha got married and who his father was. I have looked on Freebmd and the LDS site with no luck. Dauna
