I have an address for my family as 22 Hawke St Portsmouth but in the search on 1901 it only has numbers 27 to 57. Why is this? Dauna

Dauna you do not say at what date you have the address as number 22. If it was some time before 1901 it is possible that part of the road was demolished. This happened to me with a road not in existence in 1877, fully built up in 1894 and totally demolished by the 1940's.

Hello Dauna, A lot of roads in Portsmouth where "swallowed" up by the Docyyard expanding, could this have happened to your street? Eileen

Thanks but I know for sure they were living there after 1901 Dauna
