Arthur Henry Cowley B 1851 Upton Upon Severn, Worc. Missing from 1891 census (at home address). Wife listed as wife and not W so think he was alive. If he is hiding anywhere, could you find him for me please. Many thanks, Jacky

I to had a look on the 1901 census for you and there are 2 Arthur Cowleys listed but they don't look like yours, one was age 56 living in Hyde, Cheshire and the other was age 31 from Oldbury in Worc. LDS Site down at the moment so couldn't have a look on there. Will try later. Good luck Catherine

Jeni, Thank you very much - I have just received your email with the details. I do wonder how he managed to have a job in a bank for so many years if he had been in prison! Jacky

Well computer hackers often metamorphose into security advisors, maybe this is an earlier example of the poacher turned gamekeeper? I think it is possible to follow up prison records in the home office papers at the PRO, so since you know where and when he was there you may be able to find out what he was `in' for. Pam

Message for Jaqueline - how did you find the prison details please? I think I might be able to trace a few of my missing relatives using similar info!

Pamela I think I will have to follow this up as my curiosity is now well and truly arroused! Do you mean the Records office at Kew or will I find details in the FRO in Islington? Jacky
