What is the LDS site

Im new to this game,im trying to find sites i can use without cost, ive used free bmd and igi with some good results. im trying to get as much as i can without befroe paying out.

HI Freda Have a look at the links section on this page at the left. It gives you a link to the LDS site (the Latter Day Saints), which includes the international genealogical index(beware this is not verified data) and the 1881 census. Regards MAxine

thanks Maxine i have been on the latter day saints site found quite a lot of my family, some dates do vary.

The LDS site commenced by collecting the research done by their members so there was always a possibility that there could be someone else looking for the same rellies as you. Then they started the "Name extraction Program" which basically was no more than unskilled members volunteering to transcribe Parish Registers. Then they went for all out photographing them. I would strongly recommend that any info you get from the LDS site be double checked because I know that many members were more eager to please than accurate. Jim

Thanks for the info Jim,its a good job i listened to rellis talking when I was a child through this I have been able to identify relations, but its like you said it is better to double check. In the family bible my grandparents wedding was Dec 1889, on one sight they had it Dec 1820.
