Ive come to a dead end and would very much appreciate it if someone could possibly do a lookup for me, the datails are: FRANCIS.H.SHEPHEARD, b.circa 1867 in PLYMOUTH, DEVON. married RACHEL SHEPHEARD (no maiden name) b.circa 1865,WEST HARTLEPOOL, DURHAM. Any info at all would be great and hugely welcome....many thanks Demelza

Thanks that would be brilliant, im positive that he was born in Plymouth as were children from the marriage. Any info at all on parents or the like would be great if possible. Ive not been able to find a marriage entry in Plymouth for them but obviously its possible they married elsewhere then returned to Plymouth at a later date....thanks very much for the offer of a lookup, its much appreciated. Let me know how you got on yourself and good luck!

Sorry to hijack this, but if anyone can look up Gamaliel and Jane Wakeham (or Wakem) I'd be grateful. They were born in around 1802, 1803.

Thanks Joan. I thought Selena was a more modern name!

Hi Demelza. How about William H Shepherd a 42 b Plymouth Charlotte a 43 b Plymouth Henry W a 19 b Plymouth Fred J a 18 b Plymouth Francis a 16 b Plymouth Emily a 11 b Plymouth Annie L a 7 b Plymouth all these from the 1881 Census and living at 5 Market Place, Corbridge, Northumberland.

Mmm, then Selena and Gamaliel can't be the same family as the 1851 Wakehams - Selena would have appeared with them on that census.

Twinkle

Twinkle Report 6 Sep 2003 21:21

I don't think it can be the same family. I'm descended from a William H Wakeham, so unless Selena was away on the night of the 1851 census, it must not be the same Gamaliel.

Keith, Thats brilliant and thanks for looking, only one problem, my shepheard is spelt differently from those (shepherd). Any chance you could just double check for me?....maybe the returns where wrong and it is the same family mis-spelt...heard that happened quite often. thanks again, Demelza

Ruth Sorry, I'm confused. Are you saying that the 1881 Gamaliel has a wife called Jane also, or am I misinterpreting?

Keith

Keith Report 7 Sep 2003 21:03

Hi Demelza. The spellings are not always accurate. The only Shepheard on the 1881 census is a Francis born 1858 and living in Modbury (nr Plymouth). My guess is that the Shepherds living in Corbridge are yours.

Oh, OK, Ruth, I'm with you now. Sorry, I was having a blonde moment.

Hiya Keith, Another quick favour if i can ask you to do a quick check for me again. Ive looked into the names you gave me previously who lived in Northumberland and they all tie in really well, even managed to trace charlottes maiden name which i believe is Bone. Is there any chance that youd have an occupation for any of them on the census?...Thanks very much.. Demelza

Hello Demelza. Sorry, I have the LDS 1881 Census and it doesn't show occupations

Keith, if you have LDS 1881 census on disc then you need to put cursor on relevant household and press F9 to show full details for that household including occupations. Maz. XX
