Hi Joanna You should be able to open up gedcom files directly i.e.go through windows explorer and double click on the file from where you have downloaded it to. If it asks you to select an application, pick word, wordpad or notepad or something similar and it should be ok. Regards Maxine

I have found some files i have downloaded .ged files. I now want to look at them but am not sure how to use gedcom. Do i need any other software to use this or can i use it on its own. It is telling me i need an empty tree?
