I'm just about to sign up for a 14 day free trial at Ancestry.Com - any reason why I should'nt? has anyone had any problems with this 14 day free trial? Maggie

I would check through postings to some of the newsgroups first - many say that it is difficult to cancel after the 2 free weeks - I decided not to risk it but maybe I am wrong

Margaret,I had no trouble cancelling,in fact quite the reverse.I thought I would send cancellation email a few days before my time was up,in case of delays etc and they cancelled it within the hour and I still had three days to go ... GUTTED Kathleen

I also had no trouble cancelling my free trial. In fact I am thinking of trying to get another one with a different credit card! Just make sure that you print out all the details when you register because it explains how to cancel! Maggy, West Yorkshire

Thanks everyone, have decided to wait until the children go back to school - will have more time then. Will I find more on there than on 1901 and Free BMD? Maggie

Hi Maggie, If you are lucky like I was, you will find loads of information on the 1891 census. I had been trying to find my grandad for months, and in 1891, there he was!! Maggy

I had a free trial with Ancestry.co.uk, got loads of info but cancelled 3 days before. As soon as they receive your notice of cancellation they cancel your free trail! So it's not really 14 days. Wendy

What else do you get apart from the 1891 census and the charts my family tree software already provides? I've been to the site and I can't see anything that I need desperately to further my research.

I'm also thinking of starting the free trial from today but what else do you get besides the 1891 census? I think this will be enough to keep me busy for 14 days but also interested in what else there is...

Just looking at the site again and the free trial seems to have disappeared again. Does anyone else have this or am I just looking in the wrong place??

Helen, I just found this while looking for something else- http://www(.)ancestry(.)com/affiliate/landing/index2(.)htm BUT it seems to be for the US site. Can anyone tell me whether you get access to all the records or if I sign up for this will I only get the US records?

Someone posted earlier that although the ads had disappeared, they were still doing the free trial. Ancestry has to be one of the worst designed sites out there for providing info about its products.

The Free 14 Day Trial seems to have dissappered. Maybe it is not on everyday! I will keep trying and let you know if it reappears. Maggie

I used the link I posted above and got in fine and have access to the UK and US stuff.

Try searching for Ancestry Free Trial on Google - I managed to get in OK. I would also say that I've managed to get 2 free trials so far using the same name and credit card with no probs and will probably try again in the near future.

I believe that the free trial is only available for a certain period of time and isn't an ongoing thing. Ancestory offer it periodically. Next time they clutter up my mail box with FREE 14 DAY TRIAL OFFERS I will let you know! lol I am also thinking of giving it a go! What the Heck! It is free and I have a great long list that should allow me to get my free moneys worth and hopefully be able to do some look up for others! Sonja
