Hello again. Further to my last, I've remembered that the other camp was called Clark Camp. Lee-Metford, as a matter of interest, was the make of rifle issued to the Army bafore the Lee-Enfield. The camps as far as I know were used as temporary accomodation for units doing their annual weapon training. We were sent down there when Chelsea Barracks was demolished and rebuilt. We used to go up to London for a month at a time to do Public Duties.

Hi there. I was married in Lydd while serving with the Coldstream Guards. Both camps were temporary types, tin and wooden huts. One camp was called Lee-Metford Camp, and I can't remember the other one. Both have now been pulled down, or they had when I visited there a couple of years ago. They were on the edge of Lydd, and the ranges ran down to the sea along the road to Camber. Nice place, although the huts could be very cold at night

Dear Clare That was fast within 5 mins you replied to my post. I think that Tin Town Huts may be an official name as that was the address given on my Grand fathers wedding certificate. Any help that you can provied will be most greatfuly recived. Yours Chris

I think 'Tin Town' was a way of describing what they looked like rather than a place, i live 5 miles from Lydd and will happily look into it further if you dont have any other luck.

During 1919 my Grandfather George Daniel Vernon Talbot was stationed at Tin Town Huts, Lydd Kent with the Royal Garrison Artillery, try as I might I can find no information about this place, can anyone help with information or may be even photos. Thanks in advance Chris
