Recently attended Family History Society lecture by a guy who was a postcard expert. He had his examples encapsulated in plastic sheets - I think a machine can be purchased for about £100. 00 with a free first supply of plastic pockets. You can see both side of the document/postcard and if necessary hole-punch them to file in a ring binder. I know the outlay is probably expensive, but if you get original certs etc. they can be encapsulated forever and no more sticky fingers over them. Just a thought. Jacqui

Hi Ann, Can you tell me where you buy the acid free pockets? I have tried a number of shops and they don't even know what I am talking about! Thank you Regards Margaret

I would think it would be better to photocopy them for looking at, then store the originals in acid free pockets and keep out of the light to avoid fading. Ann Glos

I've got several postcards of relatives which are between 85 and 100 years old. What's the best way to store them? Some have got messages on the back as they have been sent through the post. Thus I'd like to see both sides when stored. I'd also like to increase the size to A5 - is it best to scan them and enlarge them digitally? Would a photocopier damage them in anyway? Any views/ideas anyone? John :-)
