marriage record query

My gt gt grandfather was a Thomas Shattock and he married a Mary King in the Taunton district of Somerset. I don't know when except I can find on FreeBMD a marriage of Thomas Shattock for the qtr end Dec 1854 and a Mary King for the qtr end March 1854. There are only 4 marriages from a FreeBMD search for a Thomas Shattock. The favourites of these must be 1852 and particularly 1854 because the first child I believe was born in 1857. Is it possible, or probable, that they could have been listed in different quarters of the same year? |

John, Sorry to ruin your evening but I have just checked FreeBMD and don't think either the 1852 or 1854 marriages of John Shattock are yours. I clicked on both page numbers in the search results and pulled up lists of other names on the same register pages - no sign of a Mary King. I've also checked LDS website and can find no record of a marriage to a Mary King. It could be that the marriage you are looking for is not yet on FreeBMD. Have you tried www(.)1837online(.)com? It may cost you a bit but I don't see any alternative for the moment. Best of luck in your search. David |

Thanks for all these comments. I have volume numbers for both these entries Thomas Shattock Taunton 5c page 703 and Mary King Taunton 5c page 605. I checked on 1837online and these are confirmed there. It's just that they are not on the same page or even in the same quarter of the year. John |
