Thanks John, I will take a look at your sites with interest, as all my family worked in the colleries of South Wales. They came down to South Wales from Bristol, Cornwall, Forest of Dean for the work in the pits.

Hi Dorothy, I think you will find all UK mining sites on here. It gives deaths and accidents, the lot. It is a very comprehensive site. The owner is very helpful too (an ex-miner) and will even look for a miner and send you info he may have. He does like a donation though after the 1st one. If your rellies were miners you will spend hours on this site. I forgot to mention its the 2nd site that does the UK. John

John The Durham Mining Museum website is pretty useful too for those with Durham mining connections. Helped me understand a lot of the occupations referred to on census returns etc. There are also lists of names of those killed in mining accidents in the area and some Mining Inspectors' reports. I learned how the 8 year old daughter of an ancestor of mine had been killed crossing railway lines near a pit. Beryl Darlington CO.Durham

Thanks John. Been wondering how to access information on this as all my ancesters were miners to a man. Haven't had time to look yet but mine were in the Forest of Dean. Do you know any sites specifically for the Forest pits?
