Hi there Suffolk Family History Society published a guide in 2000 called How to Find Suffolk Towns and Villages. It gives the following info for each place: "the hundred, the union, location of union house, name of parish church and number of bells, the diocese, deanery and archdeanery and some additional notes." Also gives an ordance survey map reference. If I can look up for anyone will do so. Liz

Thanks for the various replies. Looks as though it is Stoke-by-Clare, and I now have a couple of extra ancesters. Thanks again. John R.

Good tip, if you are not sure where an area is use www(dot)multimap(dot)com I generally find this works! It came up with the same three "Stoke"s in suffolk as April listed and it brings up a map to show you where they are in the county. 1 Stoke Ash,Suffolk 2 Stoke by Clare,Suffolk 3 Stoke-by-Nayland,Suffolk Hope this helps zoë x

My Ggm is shown as born in Stoke, Suffolk. Cannot find it on the map. Any Suffolk listees any ideas on the location or perhaps correct spelling. Thanks in advance. John Ranger
