St Aloysius' Convent School

My husband's ancestors also lived in St Pancras. One of them even took Aloysius as a confirmation name, so I assumed that the family worshipped at a church, to which the school might have been attached. Then later his son taught at the school. I suspect that the school moved to larger premises in Highgate but if you contact them, no doubt they will tell you. I would be interested as well.

Thanks Hilary, I'm not sure this is linked as it's in Highgate miles from where my grandma lived by I'll give them a try. My grandma's house stood where the British library now is and St Aloysius' Convent (as it was) was round the corner - basically between St Pancras and Euston stations. This used to be in the Pancras district and is now part of Camden.

Sorry, Angela - you are right! Try this instead. www(.)delasalle(.)org(.)uk/places/highgate/home I found it originally via Google. It's address is Highgate but it is actually listed as an Islington school. I presume the council boundaries etc move around.

Try www(.)staloysius(.)islington(.)sch(.)uk This has a slightly different address but has been around for over 100 years.

Sorry Angela no website for either school. BUT...Friends reunited list pupils from 1934 up to 2003. Maybe one of them could fill in some blanks for you. At least they are all alive still!!! Roger

Thanks Roger, it looks like it may well be related. I looked in FC and google though and couldn't find a website. Did you manage to find it?

Have you tried Maria Fidelis Convent school in Phoenix rd as it seems to be 'related' to St A's. They have a school website etc. Roger

A bit of a long shot but is there anyone out there who knows anything about this school. My grandma attended this school in the late 1930s (although she spelled it St Alouisses :-)) By some clever deduction with the information I had I managed to find the following school on Friendsreunited = St Aloysius Convent School, Phoenix Road, Euston, London NW1. I'm not sure where to go now as the school seems to be closed now and there are not many members registered on FC. Is there anyone out there who knows this school or anyone who has researched the "school" avenue who can give me some advice??
