Freecen Volunteers

Hi Tina If you go to the freecen website http://freecen(.)rootsweb(.)com You will see "Transcriptions" on the left. If you go in there you will see a description of the project, plus a list of all the areas and their status. Each area will vary in its stage of completion, but there will be a contact name , and the people are really friendly and helpful. If you email the contact they will send you a tutorial transcription( very much like FeeBMD), where you practice copying out a page, and this let you know if you enjoy it or not. There is also free software to download to use. They also need checkers, to check other people's transcriptions. Regards Maxine

Just thought I'd mention that Freecen are after volunteers to transcribe. Many of the documents are now available on CD, so a microfiche reader is not always required. Its worth a look! Regards Maxine
