there is a 15 year old Charlotte STRAWSON on the 1901 in Swinton, Yorks who was born in Hyde, Cheshire. She is the only STRAWSON in Swinton .....apart from a 1 year old baby called Frederick but he doesn't appear on the same page. That seems a bit odd. Might be worth paying to see the full census records of both. Sue

Julie, I found the Charlotte Rosemary mentions listed as Charlotte Strawson in the 1901 census. Crista

Thanks to both for your help. I've searched all of the female Straws of the relevant age and also seen the Charlotte Straw aged 18 but my grandma was apparently born in Stockport (according to 1837online). My aunt also knows she wasn't from Nottingham although was a bit vague on exactly where - poss Yorks!

There is a Charlotte Straw on the 1901 census aged 18 born Nottingham and living there she was a cotton spinner. You have to remember ages might be different on census and it can a few years out so dont look for a 15 year old vary it a bit. Hope this helps. Debbie

Could someone please help, my grandmother, born in 1886 as Charlotte Straw and died in 1941 as Charlotte Whittington. I can find no trace of her on 1901 website - not married to my grandad at this stage. How do I find out if she was married before? I've checked with my aunt and she doesn't think her mum was married before.
