Hi, Can anyone help. I have subscribed to ancestry's 14 day free trial, I came to cancel the subscription today and when i checked my account, it said that I have full subscription rights, does this normally appear on a 14 day free trial or has something gone very wrong. I have emailed to cancel but as yet have had no reply. I know that I followed the screens for the 14 day free trial and did not go to full subscription because I wa very careful and checked every step of signing up. can anyone tell me if this is the norm?

Don't panic, Lisa. I signed up for the free trial a few months ago. They basically give you full access rights, but you have an option to cancel before the trial period is up. If I remember rightly, they replied within a day or so of my email to confirm cancellation. (Remember working times in US may cause an apparent delay). Hope that helps, Jon. p.s. I've since paid up for 3 months (about £30)and downloaded lots of pages from the 1891 census - it works out much cheaper than PRO 1901 if you want to do a lot of look-ups.

Hi Lisa, I took out the 14 day trial and sent the cancel email. On Monday I checked my emails only to find that I had been upgrade to full subscription at the cost of £69. I sent them an email stating that I had cancelled and did not want to be upgraded. After all £69 is a lot of money. Anyway they have cancelled my subsciption and are hopefully (fingers crossed) going to credit my account. So be careful. Gail

I heeded advice about being promp with my free trial cancellation and sent an email yesterday lunchtime, When I logged on again at work this morning it had been cancelled. I'm currently trying to think of an ingenious way to get a second free trial without being caught Zoe SCO

Hi Everyone, This is my first message, but have been reading with interest for quite a while. I recently cancelled my 14 day trial with Ancestry and received my confirmation email within 30 minutes. I am also hoping to get back on for another free trial. I originally used the 3 month free trial that came with My Family Deluxe programme bought from PC. World, but when I registered it was only for the US, so was very disappointed, but returned the complete package to the store and got a full refund.

PERHAPS I AM THICK!! but would someone please explain in very basic terms, just how you send an e-mail to Ancestry to cancel. Every time I try, I get told I have sent it to a 'no-reply- section. Hazel Dalgety Bay Scotland

Rose - you are a gem! I did exactly what you said. Have received e-mail back from Ancestry acknowledging cancellation. Many thanks; going by the experience of other gc members, I will keep a close eye on my Credit Card statement. Hazel Dalgety Bay Scotland
