Hi Emily Do you have your mother's birth certificate? If not you can find the reference on 1837 online (see the links page on the left). You will have to buy £5 worth of units, but you will get a GRO reference, which you can then use to get her certificate, which should cost £7. I do not know what era you are talking about, but once you have the birthcertificate, it may help trace back to the 1901 census. Sorry I have no knowledge abou adpotion procedures, but I'm sure someone else will come up with some help on that. Regards Maxine

My mother was adopted and we are trying to find out about any family we may have remaining. All we have is a baptism certificate from 1946... Could anyone help me with where to start??
