Hmm... Thanks for the searching but I recently ordered the birth of the Richard Heslop born 1845 and its not the right one. According to his letter his father is John Heslop and mother was Margaret Meter or Mutter or Muter. She was from Hamilton, Scotland and descended from a French Huguenot. The birth certificate of Richard's sister Elizabeth Heslop (bn 1849) (my GG Grandmother) confirms those names. However, the mothers name on the birth certificate of the Richard Heslop born in 1845 is Mary Rudd. And the address is wrong too. My Heslop family are recorded at 56 Broadgate, Darlington on the 1851 Census. I'm going to have to search the St Catherines Index again for 1844. Thanks for the info on Sarah and Effie. I will add their certificates to my ever growing wish list. Paul (ps if anyone would like to see the letter written in 1922 then I can email you a scan.)

Thank you Rosemary and a double thank you to Debbie. It's helpful people like you who make this web site the wonderful thing it is. Now the only thing I've got to do is track Richard's family forward for three or four generations, and show them the letter their Great Great Grandfather wrote... Thanks again Paul

Can you help me locate Richard Heslop (bn 1844 Darlington) on the 1891 Census. He was an organ builder by trade, and man who certainly travelled. In 1881 he is lodging in St Austell, Cornwall. In 1901 he is visiting a family in Carlisle. I have a copy of a letter he wrote in 1922 - his address printed at the top is Burma Road, London. It would be nice to see where he was in 1891 - hopefully with his family so I can find out the name of his wife and children. Thanks Paul
