Just taken a quick look at the Stcaths site. Seems you have to pay £15 and someone does the research for you. Am reluctant to pay £15 if all of the info wasn't available. Has anyone paid to go on this site and what were the results like? Margaret

Yes the GRO indexes that are on FreeBMD and 1837 online are what was formerly called St Catherine's house indexes. Margaret

Hi Andrea I think i replied last time with St Catherines index, Yes it is available in record centres and libraries, but, you can also get it at 1837.com if you cannot get to the library. Good luck George

The St Catherine's Index is a National Index of all Birth, Marriages and Deaths that were registered in England and Wales from the summer of 1837 to date. The Index is held at most librarys, and you will be able to view it for free. The data is stored on Micro Fiche. A lot of the data held on the index prior to 1903 has been copied on to a web site. Go to www"dot"freebmd"dot"rootsweb"dot"com and have a search using your computer. Good luck Paul

Hi all. A week or so ago (maybe less) I saw a thread on this board asking how to search for rellies post 1901. Someone replied and suggested trying St Catherine's index. I replied to this asking for info on what this was and where to find it as it's not one of our links. Then I had visitors stay for a week so I didn't come on the PC so much and now I can't find the thread again to see if anyone answered. Please can someone fill me in as I am desperate for info post 1901 and am thinking of quitting - again!!
