name on marriage cert

Hi. Can anyone tell me, if someones marriage certificate has the name and occupation of the grooms father on it, does that mean that he was still alive at the time of the marriage. thanks Tricia

Patricia Yes usualy it does give the bride and grooms fathers names and occupation, On my nans wedding certificate it had her fathers name and ocupation but I knew he had died a few years before but it didnt say deseased, so I think a lot of certificates are slightly different. Hope this helps Debbie

Patricia On the certificates I have it normally gives the name and then says deceased after it. Mike

Hi Debra and Micheal Thanks for your replies.I guess its a hung jury on this one.So I will work on the assumption that I cannot assume anything.lol Cheers Tricia
