I think it was the census enumerator filling the forms in down the pub on census night ,not the residents of Liverpool.My family all on 1891&1901 census,searched for months on 1881 and couldnt find them.Another member on GC eventually found them for me ,surname spelt wrong, wifes christian name wrong, and all the place of birth wrong tooIt was definitely them as found out later they lived next door to wifes mother and we found her and it all checked out,ok in the end Kathleen |

I am missing a whole family of Tafes in the 1901,as well as a Susan Morgan,and a couple of Hanlons! All in Liverpool! I am convinced the Tafes are not on it as I spent 3hrs one night doing various searches for them,including not putting in a surname. |

Could Jane be living with her grandparents? My great uncle married, had a child and then his wife died. His son was brought up by his maternal grandmother. Just an idea. Gary |

hello there are quite a few Jane Jones's born Liverpool on the 1901 census. If you're sure none of these is your relative then you're in the same place as me!I've lost great great Uncle Eugene Ernest Gau who died in 1905. Suggestions have been made that maybe had gone to Scotland or Ireland, or France (he was born in France). Perhaps he was on a cruise? I did discover that he had decided to call himself Harry (?) by the time he died. Did Jane have a middle name? She hadn't got married by then? There are lots of typing errors as well as ennumerator errors in 1901. Could it have been misread at Janes or something similar? Sorry this sounds like the Spanish Inquisition .. Best wishes A |

My GGrandparents Joseph and Mary Jones were living in Huyton with Roby (Liverpool) according to 1881 census. My grandmother Jane Jones was born in 1883, Joseph died shortly after and in 1888 Mary remarried - a William Bretherton and went on to have 3 children Robert Margaret and Annie and were living in Bangor North Wales in 1901. There is no sign of my grandmother Jane Jones on either the 1891 or 1901 census. According to the 1891 census Mary and her2nd husband William had a 3 month old baby so where was Jane????????? Any suggestions anyone??????? |
