Parish registers, Where are they?

Recent registers (say up to between 50 and 100 years old) may still be at the church. Those not at the church will probably either be at the Diocese or at the County Record Office. If at a Record Office they are probably on microfilm or fiche. |

The other common options are (1) look at the website for the Family History Society for that area and see what they've got (2) order up films at your local LDS centre |

Lisa, if you have a main library near you it is always worth asking them. A lot of parish registers have been transcribed and published in book form so it is possible that yor library may have some. I found a copy of the records from a little village called Worton in Durham at Birmingham Ref library. What are the chances of that happening? Actually pretty good. Good luck Jim |

Lisa If you contact the nearest Library to where your ancestors where from you may find that they have copies, or at least be able to tell you where they are. Jane |
