Some of you may remember a previous thread where I mentioned finding a baby's death cert reference on the net and started having strange dreams about it. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Well I have now got a copy of the death cert and found that the little girl would indeed have been my great aunt if she had lived longer than one day. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . My great grandfather (who did not know about the little girl) was a lay preacher in portsmouth and was very much a family man. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I have been having more dreams in which I am searching for the baby's grave for him so because he is unhappy that his sisters grave has been forgotten and neglected for over 100years. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . How would I go about finding the grave? Are there any records I should search? . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Also, it says that the baby died of INANITION - does anyone know what this is in modern terms? She died aged 1day. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Thankyou for your time, -Kat

Found this explanation Inanition Exhaustion from lack of nourishment. In the newborn, this could mean prematurity Hope it helps Karen

a condition of exhaustion caused by lack of nutrients in the blood. This is caused by starvation or malnutrition. according to an old family medical book. What a sad story.

I'd suggest contacting the cemetary registrars at the cemetaries nearest to where the baby died or asking relatives whether they can remember where the child is buried. This is what I did when I was seeking my great aunts grave she too died in babyhood and amazingly I actually found her grave with headstone. George
