Member Since: January 2003 Posts: 0 Send Message	Ive just recently purchased my grandfathers birth cert and it says that he was a private in the Cheshire regiment in the first world war. I spoke to the MOD and tehy said that the info i need would be held at the PRO. Ive read that the records are incomplete and its a case of peicing together info that is left over. Has anyone been to the PRO to find out info about a serviceman and how sucessful was your search. Bri. Liverpool/Leeds

Member Since: June 2003 Posts: 577 Send Message	Brian - yes we have been to the PRO twice to search for service records - however both ours were earlier, and we were successful, we were real newbies and didnt have a clue. We found the staff more than willing to help. Do you have a copy of Tracing your Ancestors in the PRO? Your library should have it or get them to order you one in, its got a full chapter on Military records after 1914. Hope this helps. Sue.
