I live overseas and don't possess a UK Atlas. Thanks again Kathleen for the Bottesford info. Terry - Gibraltar |

Gary you have to remember that some people are new to this family searching business and so will ask for help. Not everyone is aware of the websites and will need a little guidance. Another way to put it is if you dont want to help people looking for something that it fairly obvious to you, then dont replt to the messages. |

Gary - I think it must be a 'man thing'. Like you I'm constantly amazed by the very basic of questions being asked, and it's as if once the realms of genealogy are entered, all thoughts of using search engines have gone out of the window (and I don't have a UK atlas either, but I can ask Google). *sigh*. Next thing someone will ask what Google is. Graham |

Debra - thnak you for the constructive criticism, your comments are always welcome. Terry - you are quite right, my apologies if you felt that this was aimed at you. I forgot about those overseas. Lisa - perfectly willing to help and have done so on many occasions. It just appears that some people are only to keen to get others to do there work for them. A search engine is onen of the first things you use on the Internet. Gary |

Gary on that count I do agree with you. People cannot expect others to do research on thier family tree for them. A certain amount of effort must be put in by themselves and search engines can bring up a marvellous amount of resources for Genealogy. |

Viv I think I knew the response I would get when I put the message on. As you will see from the changed message I promise to be good from now on. As regards the gas man I thought I saw him go past about an hour ago. Should be with you soon. Gary |

Hi, Viv Our gas man at work didn't turn up today as arranged and when we phoned we were told he wouldn't be round until 5th August, so he's obviously doing you first. |

It is not unique to family history or even new. For years I have seen cases where someone has mentioned Bloggs Ltd on USENET then there will be a message from someone asking where they get information on Bloggs Ltd. I sometimes will try <www bloggs com> and up comes Bloggs Ltd's website. |
