Hi John, Vera may be right. I found the family in the 1881 census and note that Fanny was born Hilton, Derby so this may have been where they got married. My gt-grandfather was born in london and my gt- grandmother in Leicester and although they were both living in London at the time of their marriage, the wedding took place in Leicester.

John Do you know where Fanny was born - have you found her on any census stating birthplace? As it is usual for the marriage to take place in the woman's parish try to find where she came from and start looking in the parish records from there. Vera Manchester LAN

Please help I have been trying to find a marriage certificate for a Thomas Yates and a Fanny Yeomans, I am tracing the Yates line, they had a girl Rebeccain 1851 in Overseal, Leicestershire. I have tried to find any record of their marriage, have tried GRO and parish records for Overseal with no luck. With regard to GRO have gone back to 1843 when Fanny would have been aged 13. If any one can give any suggestions where I my try next i would be very greatful. John [email protected]
