My great grandmother was called Ethel Dawson born 1880 born at North Muskham Nottingham but on the 1901 census she is down as Ada Dawson is this short for Ethel or what? Sue.....

Researching:
Ringrose from Countesthorpe Lord and Burley from Countesthorpe...Dixon Dawson Wood and Wilkinson from Caistor ,Starkey and Wood from Edendam. Hare from Horncastle.

It may be a second name for example my gt nan was born Phillis Rosetta but on 1881 she's listed as Rose and her sister born Esther Ellen is listed as Ellen. Is this a possiblities for you? Shelli
