I am trying to find the marriage of my Great Grandparents but I am stuck. I have tried FreeBMD on the web but I cannot find a match. Is there anywhere else I can look up before I go visiting places? Also, when I find a match and it gives me the year, month and index etc, can I view the actual certificates or do I have to pay for each individual certificate to get the details? I have about 10 certificates that I need to view.

Write to the individual Records offices giving details and enclose cheque for £7.oo and SAE. If details don`t match your cheque will be returned. Don`t think there is any way to view free of charge. Good Luck. Diana Coad

http://www.1837online (dot) C o m will give you the year, quarter (Apr-My-Jun) and the maidenname of the Mother along with the place but certificates are not scanned anywhere. 1837 is your best bet and then sending off for the certificate but as the registry offices mainly deal with living ppl wanting certificates for marriages etc you will have more luck in getting them if you can provide the quarter that the event took place and as much info as possible. Otherwise you can order them online from the GRO on the 1837 website. All details are on the site now. ukbmd.co.uk also has a certificate exchange but it's not got much in it just yet... I have just uploaded all of my info Good Luck :-) Best Wishes MagentaJade
