Hi. I am in need of some assistance as my ntl ISP doesn't let me in to the PRO site. I need the necessary references so that I can apply for my great grandmother's birth certificate. Her name was Mary Ann Close and she was born in Barnsley. On the 1881 census she is stated as 20 years old. On her marriage certificate her father is named William. If any of you rich electronic plutocrats out there have access to the real Internet could they help me? Please? Thank you Jim Gosport, HAM UK |

Ladies and Gentleperson, Thank you so much. I started looking for her in the early 1970s, and it is only recently that I found, through GC that she was on the 1881 census and found her place of birth. I had always discounted the Mary Ann I knew to be born in Barnsley as it was so far away from the Durham Collieries where she lived and married. Jim Jelly babies all round. XX |

James - interesting that you can't access the Govt web site - I too am on NTL and had an identical problem with both that site and others including the main Microsoft web site. There is a solution to the problem which just means renaming a particular fie and all gets itself sorted out - if you're interested I can send you the details. Graham |
